国家有突出贡献中青年专家 ，国家蔬菜改良中心华中分中心主任
，湖北省马铃薯工程技术研究中心主任 。中国作物学会马铃薯专业委员会副主任委员，农业部马铃薯专家指导组成员 ，英国JournalofHorticulturalScienceandBiotechnology副主编

。
　主要从事马铃薯遗传育种、栽培生理和生物技术领域的研究，先后主持国家自然科学基金 、863
、948、国家支撑计划 、农业成果转化
、国际合作等项目30多项。育成鄂马铃薯1号、3号 、4号、6号
、华恩1号、华薯1号等新品种 。主持研究的马铃薯试管薯高效生产技术获国家发明专利 ，以此为基础创造了国内外周期最短的马铃薯繁殖技术体系
。获湖北省科技进步一等奖 、技术发明一等奖
、农业部丰收计划一等奖等多项。发表论文150多篇 。
