。在我国西北干旱半干旱地区开展了较为系统的树轮学研究，主要学术贡献如下：1)发现研究区树轮宽度主要响应区域湿度和水文变化；并结合观测和模拟研究探讨了其生物学机制；2）重建了黄河上游近1200多年径流变化 ，发现了历史时期主要的干旱事件；3）利用树轮记录系统开展了PDSI湿度变化重建研究
，并点面结合重建了研究区近几百年到近千年的干旱变化历史；4）开展了极端温度的树轮气候学研究，重建了黄河源区的温度变化 ，发现该区域最高最低温存在非对称变化现象；并探讨了森林上线对气候变化的响应。先后主持五项国家自然科学基金项目

”项目 、一项教育部博士点基金项目和多项国际合作项目
