"TheseresultsareparticularlyimportantintheInternetage,whenopportunitiesforself-promotionhaveproliferated7viasocialnetworking.Theeffectsmaybeexacerbated8bytheadditionaldistancebetweenpeoplesharinginformationandtheirrecipient9,whichcanbothreducetheempathyoftheself-promoteranddecreasethesharingofpleasurebytherecipient,"shesaid.
