1.ratherthan和otherthan

这两个词组看起来长的很像，很容易混淆 ，但是它的含义确具有天壤之别。ratherthan是“而不是;宁可...也不愿 ”的含义;而otherthan则是“除了
，不同于
” 。如：

①Iwoulddieratherthansurrender.我宁愿死也不投降

②There’snobodyhereotherthanme.这个地方除了我之外，就没有人
。

2.wouldratherthan和wouldratherto

这两个词组虽然只有一词只差 ，但意义却完全不同。wouldratherthan是“会
，而不是”的含义，而wouldratherto则是“宁愿 ”的含义 。比如：

①Iwouldratherdiethanmarryyou.我宁愿死也不会嫁给你
。

②Iwouldratherdietomarryyou.我宁愿死也要嫁给你。

3.lessAmoreB

遇到这一句型短语 ，我们只要要记住一点就行了
，即跟在less后面的就是否定的对象，跟在more后面的是肯定的对象 。所以 ，lessAmoreB就是否定的A，肯定的B
，即“与其说A，不如说B
”这个含义
。如：

Interestinhistoricalmethodshasarisenlessthroughexternalchallengetothevalidityofhistoryasanintellectualdisciplineandmorefrominternalquarrelsamonghistoriansthemselves.对历史方法的兴趣 ，与其说是起源于对历史有效性的外部挑战
，倒不如说是起源于历史学家们内部的争论。

4.notmorethan和notlessthan

notmorethan通常用于数词之前，意为“至多;顶多;不超过” ，其意义与atmost相同 。notlessthan意为“不少于、至少 ”
，意思同atleast相近。例句：

①Onthegroundlayapeasantboyofnotmorethanseventeen.地上躺着一个不超过17岁的农家小男孩
。

②Ourschoolhasnotlessthanthreethousandstudents.我们学校的学生不少于3000人。
