李志平，1971年生 ，辽宁大连人 。1993年毕业于南京理工大学化工学院（学士）；1996年毕业于南京理工大学化工学院（硕士）；1999年毕业于大连理工大学化工学院（博士）。1999.1-2000.12在北京大学化学学院从事博士后研究工作；2001.1-2002.8在日本北海道大学触媒化学研究中心从事博士后研究工作；2002.8-2003.12在北京大学化学学院工作（讲师）；2004.1-2006.2在加拿大麦吉尔大学化学系从事博士后研究工作；2006年3月-至今在中国人民大学化学系工作（副教授）；2009年受聘中国人民大学教授 、博士生导师
。研究领域为金属有机化学和有机合成化学，并且在该领域已发表了一批有创新性和影响力的科研成果。2007年入选国家教育部“跨世纪优秀人才培养计划 ”；2009年获北京市教育工会“首都教育先锋科技创新个人”称号 。
